IRIDE: The Future of Space Observation Made in Italy
IRIDE is one of the most ambitious European space programs dedicated to Earth observation, conceived and promoted by the Italian Government. With a fully Italian technological core, the program is made possible through resources from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and the Complementary National Plan (PCN). By June 2026, IRIDE will be fully operational, meeting the ambitious PNRR timelines set with the official launch in December 2021.
The project, coordinated by the European Space Agency (ESA) in close collaboration with the Italian Space Agency (ASI), involves a network of 73 Italian companies, with a central role for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This approach significantly contributes to the revitalization and expansion of the national space industry. IPTSAT is already prepared for the generation of value-added data ready for publication.
