An important milestone for innovation in the satellite sector
IPTSAT is proud to announce that it has obtained funding under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) through the CYBER 4.0 call for proposals for innovation, industrial research and experimental development projects.
The Project: BIOSAT MARKETPLACE
On-demand satellite information system
BIOSAT Marketplace represents a strategic innovation in the national Earth observation (EO) services landscape. The project aims to democratise access to satellite data, transforming complex information into usable and certified services.
Main objectives
- Simplify access to Copernicus data and the future IRIDE constellation
- Create the first certified national marketplace for satellite remote sensing services
- Bridge the technological gap between the potential of satellite data and the operational needs of local public administrations and SMEs
- Guarantee data authenticity through blockchain certification
Technological innovation
The project introduces a web-based platform that integrates:
- Unified access to multiple satellite data sources (Sentinel 1/2/3/5p, Landsat, Copernicus services)
- On-demand services for environmental monitoring, land use, agriculture and emergency management
- Blockchain certification system to guarantee the integrity of satellite images
- Interface in Italian with pre-processed, ready-to-use data
Expected impact
The project responds to growing market demand, with expected benefits for:
- Local public administrations: advanced tools for land management
- Professionals and SMEs: easier access to satellite technologies
- Research and innovation: new opportunities for the use of spatial big data
Total value of the project: €183,943.70 Duration: 12 months (01/04/2024 – 30/06/2025) Scientific partnership: Sapienza University of Rome
