The BIOGIS360 project, launched in May 2025 as part of Notice NBFC_S8_PMI2, aims to develop a WebGIS system for biodiversity analysis and monitoring, integrating environmental indicators, territorial data and interoperable digital tools.
BIOGIS360 addresses the challenges of data fragmentation and biodiversity monitoring with an integrated cloud-based WebGIS platform capable of collecting, normalising and analysing multi-source data (official and certified where possible).
The project involves key stakeholders – public administrations, SMEs, research institutions, green investors and local communities – providing innovative tools for strategic ecological decisions.
Through satellite and temporal monitoring, the platform integrates global, national and local data on species, habitats and ecosystems, overcoming monitoring gaps and promoting sustainable land management.
BIOGIS360 not only preserves natural wealth, but also generates economic benefits: it creates opportunities for technology and sustainability SMEs, reduces the operating costs of public administrations and promotes Nature-Based Solutions (NbS), which are more economical than traditional infrastructure. In addition, it preserves essential ecosystem services, stimulates sustainable tourism and attracts green investment.
BIOGIS360 aligns with the objectives of the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and European regulations, becoming a central tool for strategic biodiversity management.
Included in the European framework for biodiversity
BIOGIS360 is part of the National Biodiversity Future Centre (NBFC), one of five National Centres promoted by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
The project is co-funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU and responds to the most advanced global environmental challenges.
