The Municipal Information System is able to assimilate registry, cartographical, fiscal, property, cadastral, and technological network data, etc. through dynamic databanks. The entire architecture of the system rests on a stratum of targeted applications, based on CLIENT/SERVER platforms, that offer the functionality of dealing with the information, that is, the processing and handling of data in the way that best suits the individual requirements of the end-user.
The functionality, requested by the
customer, is created using CASE (Computer Aided Software Engineering)
systems for the development of software solutions, capable of assisting
the user and the informatics developer during the entire evolution of the
informational system, from the requirement analysis stage, right through the design of
functions and database stages, in order to create and test, up until
implementation and the subsequent evolutionary and maintenance adjustment stages.
Such a structure can then be considered as fully
operative and functional per se.
However, at the same time, it must be looked upon as a launch pad
for the development of new and more advanced functionalities, for the
handling of data, whenever the Administration considers it to be right and
necessary to proceed in such a direction. The system is of a modular design which makes it
possible to install several components, configuring different types of
solutions, whether centralized or distributed. The product created by IPT
brings together the typical SIT functionalities in a single solution,
namely, support for high resolution images obtained through satellite
remote sensing technology, and the possibility of communicating both from and to the territory
using the Call Center and Web
Center.

The possibility of interacting with databases and external archives is envisaged for all modules. This is achieved either by dialogue functionalites in real time, using supports offered by (ODBC – Open Data Base Connectivity) protocols and data exchange protocols for geographical subjects (OGDI – Open Geographic Data Interchange or, alternatively, by methodologies for data exchange in deferred or near real time, with the download and conversion of formats for archives run by systems which are not supported by data exchange methodologies in real time. |
