IPT has developed a Road Information System
that is the best way to manage territorial data. It is highly useful in satisfying
any request for information on resources concerning the territorial road
network
. Using SIS, our customers have a set of interactive tools and paper at their disposal capable of supplying information on: - main and secondary road
networks;
- traffic
signs/signals;
- promotional
commercial art;
- technological
networks;
- road
lighting;
-
signalling;
- distribution of refuse containers. The system can be customerised
according to the particular needs of the client. The Architecture of the System is
based on Client/Server paradigms and permits authorized users (qualified
with password) to manage all facts obtained during the acquisition stages
that form the centralized database, resident on the Server, from one or
more Client stations (operational centres).
This data enables the construction of the
road network graph, its georeferencing and the acquisition of continuous
digital images of the given environment, by covering the road network with a mobile
means of survey duly equipped with specific Hardware, Firmware and
Software. The digital images
of the environment are also georeferenced and yoked to the cartographical
base to allow future management of the data.
The installation part consists of the necessary
tools for the acquisition and storage of digital images of the road
network graph (eg. digital cameras, mass memory, etc.), for location
survey (eg. GPS, inertial accelerometers, etc.) and tools for enriching
the information obtained (eg. personal computers, programmes, etc.) which
are all supplemented by apparatus with specialized interface and
programmed via firmware.
Types of applications currently in use for
the administration of assets distributed on the road network graph
: -
ROAD INTERSECTIONS: the identification of road
intersections, within the territory concerned, means that the due
maintenance of road safety
items can be validated, for example, taking stock of road signs/signals, road lighting
installations, and whatever else is considered necessary. Furthermore, it is possible to
check the presence of items that hinder full vision such as trees,
etc.
-
BRIDGES:
for the management of
such constructions, the continuous form from the beginning to the end of
the construction is acquired, the dimensional characteristics (if greater
or less than ml.6), the
width, the type of parapets
and visible items. Bridge
management involves the filing of data concerning dimensions, structure
and design, this provides the basis
for a planned system
of maintenance works for the requisite management, control and
maintenance of such
structures so that they can be safely and efficiently
used.
-
GUARD RAILS:
the identification of such items within the territory allow the
maintenance of such road safety items to be verified, as well as their
state of use and their compatibility with respect to the category of road and form of traffic. Furthermore, it is possible to implement plans for the renewal
of installations and/or their maintenance.
-
SUPPORT WALLS: research for support
constructions, their positioning in planimetry, dimensional and structural characteristics are
carried out with the same methods
used for acquiring road emergency data. The procedure for support wall
management sets down maximum
heights and makes it possible to plan ordinary and extraordinary
maintenance works, and thereby ensuring the necessary works for the
structure to be safely maintained.
-
SURFACING: using the relevant images, it is
possible to detect the existence and size of surfacing and holes on the
cartography. This information
may be used for maintenance management by creating an archive of maintenance works
carried out and also to plan
works on the basis of direct evaluations.
- TREES: tree maintenance along the edges of roads involves special responsibility for the Authorities responsible, such maintenance involves the planning of pruning so that vision is not blocked and ensuring that there are no obstructions to transit. A process has been created to identify plants growing alongside the road, their detection and classification is made on the basis of form and density. The procedure enables the proper planning of tree maintenance on the basis of such acquired information procedura SIS consente il rilievo e l’archiviazione dei dati relativi agli elementi dislocati sul territorio e consente di produrre un inventario utile per la loro gestione:
FINDINGS OF DEFECTS
AND DETERIORATOR The SIS procedure enables a census of
Advertising Installations and Activity Indicators to be carried out for
the purposes of drawing up an inventory and to plan their management. On the basis of acquired images,
such factors as the dimension of the installation as well as the existence
or not of trees, that block vision, can be drawn as well as the existence
or not of necessary safety factors (distance from dangerous bends in the road, etc.).
On the basis of such facts, it is possible to carry out
precautionary checks before issuing concessions, or to carry out detailed checks for
the possible removal of any
given advertising hoarding
for safety reasons
FURTHER PERSONALIZED OPTION The SIS System allows for the activation of other functions by personalizing the standard Database to satisfy different client needs. The following list gives just a few examples of other options used:
