DEM - Digital Elevation Model

To permit a three-dimensional analysis of any given territory, IPT has made available in the area of its value added products, an innovative Elevation Model of the Terrain (DEM), produced by steropairs of satellite images or orthophotos, in addition to the creation of 3-D images for static or dynamic applications.

In particular, the quality and accuracy of the high resolution EROS satellite images guarantee excellent results for this type of processing.

DEM are usually created in Raster form via a regular grid of values representing the quota of each individual cell, produced by photometric means from aerial photos or stereographs of satellite images, and supplied to the pixel of the image obtained by remote sensing technology. The product of the data processing is the creation of a tool to generate three-dimensional photo-like images which make it possible to reconstruct, by computer, a true territory, to visualize it and explore it throughout, and to be able to treat and modify it on an interactive basis.
